Hyperhidrosis – Excessive sweating
Botulinum A is a very effective non-surgical treatment for excessive sweating – particularly in the underarm area. The results are quite dramatic and become noticeable after 1-2 weeks. Once injected into the underarm area, Botulinum interrupts and blocks the signal from the nerve to the sweat gland for between 6-12 months. As a result this treatment drastically reduces sweating in the area for an extensive period.
What happens?
To begin with, a topical anaesthetic numbing cream is put on the area 20 minutes prior to the procedure. A small amount of Botulinum is carefully injected to multiple areas over underarm area. The treatment lasts 30-40 minutes with minimal discomfort.
It is important to find out from your doctor that there is no medical underlying cause for the excessive sweating prior to this procedure.
